How to achieve the best morning routine

To achieve an efficient and beneficial morning routine, start by looking at what your current mornings look like. What parts make you feel good? What habits leave you feeling rushed, tired, or distracted? A few small changes can make a big difference.

One of the most big changes you can make is to avoid your phone, or any electronics, for the first hour of your day. This simple change helps your focus, reduces stress, and gives you an energy boost that lasts all day.

1. Get Out of Bed Without Hitting Snooze on your Alarm

Avoiding the snooze button is key. Every time you hit snooze, your brain re-enters a sleep cycle it can’t complete, leaving you feeling groggy. An easy trick to follow, inspired by Mel Robbins, is to count down from 5 and then you have to get right out of bed.

2. Make Your Bed

This is a quick task that signals to your brain that the day has started. Completing this small task creates a sense of order and accomplishment right away.

3. Hydrate First Thing

Before reaching for caffeine, drink a full glass of water. It rehydrates your body, wakes up your system, and gets your metabolism going. Speaking of caffeine you should also wait until after breakfast to have your caffeine for the day.

4. Step Outside or Move Your Body

A 5–10 minute walk or even standing in natural light helps reset your internal clock and boosts focus. Movement also releases dopamine, giving you a natural energy lift.

5. Set a Simple Intention for the Day

Ask yourself: How do I want to feel today? or What’s one thing I want to accomplish? This creates focus and a sense of purpose right from the start. It also helps you motivate towards something each day.
